Whitby is a charming seaside town located in Yorkshire, in northern England, divided by the flowing River Esk. Perched on the East Cliff and overlooking the vast North Sea, the haunting ruins of the Gothic Whitby Abbey served as Bram Stoker’s inspiration for his famous novel, “Dracula.” Close by stands the historic Church of St. Mary, which visitors can reach by climbing a notable 199 steps. The Captain Cook Memorial Museum, housed in the very building where the explorer once lived, showcases a fascinating collection of paintings and maps related to his voyages. To the west of the town lies West Cliff Beach, a popular spot lined with colourful beach huts, perfect for a relaxing day by the sea.
